With more than 32 years’ working experience including 30 years in Insurance, I am a professional with strong credentials and track record in the field of risk and insurance. I was Director (Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance) for RSA Group’s businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Al Alamiya) and Bahrain. In this role, I delivered not only the post-IPO restructuring of the company’s technical function, but also developed and implemented the technical part of the business strategy.
Exposure to different business and regulatory environments and the wide range of responsibilities handled, have given me a deep understanding of the general insurance business and global best practices. For many years, I have been in transformational leadership roles, involved with change and transformation programs in different parts of the world. For the past decade,I have also been involved with management of regulatory compliance and insurance risk, accountable to Board and Risk/Audit Committees.
The strength of my experience in risk management, technical areas and operations allows me to develop practical and relevant solutions that are based on sound business principals, knowledge of the market and compliance.
I have been involved in product innovation and development for more than 2 decades and specifically in the last decade in product and proposition development for RSA Group in different territories. My work has encompassed products for brokers, retail distribution, online sale, bacassurance channel and bundled offering.
I have co-authored 2 research papers which were presented in the Global Conference of Actuaries and the Asia Pacific Risk & Insurance Association Conference respectively. I am a professional trainer and a regular guest faculty at various professional institutions for insurance subjects. I am also an effective Coach and a Mentor; and have guided a number of Leadership Trainees within the RSA Group.
