About Tommy Laupsa

Tommy Laupsa is the Managing Director of TON Business Performance Consulting, providing performance diagnostic, performance improvements, transaction advisory and transformation services to leading companies.

He brings more than 30 years’ experience of working with some of the world’s best-known global businesses on a wide array of strategic business performance improvement initiatives across multiple industry sectors including shipping, logistics, oil and gas, engineering, banking and insurance, hospitality, assurance and advisory professional services.

Mr. Laupsa specializes in developing and executing strategies for performance improvement in areas such as integrated business planning, winning business structures & operating models, business performance management & analytics, business digital transformation, pricing and demand spend investment optimization, and end-to-end organizational value chain optimization. He is known for undertaking thorough and in depth financial due-diligence, during sell or buy-side opportunities.

Mr. Laupsa has a strong track record of working with businesses to address the most important opportunities and challenges they face, such as the assessment of companies financial standings and strategic firepower to re-ignite profitable growth in challenging markets such as Gulf Cooperate Council (GCC), the need to take full advantage of the digital revolution rather than be overwhelmed by it, to re-think physical infrastructure in an increasingly digitized world, to achieve world-class cost-efficiency, to reduce adverse environmental impacts and to ensure absolute supply chain integrity and compliance with increasingly tough customer and regulatory demands.

Mr. Laupsa has worked with many global, pan-European, African and GCC businesses to develop and implement winning operating models, typically leveraging the power of technology and insight as a platform to improve commercial decision making, optimize operational efficiency and establish a culture and discipline of continuous improvement.

Prior to starting TON, Mr. Laupsa served as CFO for private and public multinational organizations in a variety of industry sectors and jurisdictions. He originally qualified as an accountant and later expanded on this with an MBA from the Manchester Business School. He is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK and Wales) and has completed the Harvard Business School “Leadership in Financial Services” training program. He recently earned the ACCA DilpIFR and a certification from MIT Sloan in business transformation, to underscore his passion for finance and business transformation.

Mr. Laupsa is a citizen of Norway, resident in Bahrain and works across the GCC. He draws his positive enthusiasm and drive from work / life experience in Europe, Southern Africa, and the GCC (Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar).
